Our Story - Justin & Rachel Co-Founders

Hey there, I’m a proud mum of two, constantly on the go with school drop-offs, pick-ups, playdates, and all the beautiful everyday adventures that comes with motherhood. Comfort and style are non-negotiables for me, which is why you’ll catch me in Wakee Denim every single day. Seriously, I never have to worry about feeling uncomfortable or not looking put-together - these jeans have become my daily uniform! 
Wakee Denim isn’t just what I wear, it’s what I champion. These jeans are the foundation of my style and the primary focus of what I sell at The Zebra Effect. I believe every woman deserves denim that fits her body and her lifestyle, jeans that make you feel confident, comfortable, and effortlessly put-together every single day. 
And here’s the best part - other mums are noticing! During school runs and catch‑ups, they’ll often ask, “Where are those jeans from?” and I tell them, I actually sell the pieces I wear!   
At The Zebra Effect, I’ve curated a collection of easy, everyday basics designed to make getting dressed effortless. Think quality pieces that go perfectly with a plain black or white tee (it's that easy). Jeans that are timeless, wearable, and made for real women who want to look good and feel comfortable. 
My mission is to make mum-life fashion easy, comfortable, and confidence boosting, because when you look good and feel good, you can take on anything (even Monday mornings!).

The Beginning

Before the idea of The Zebra Effect came to life, we first met online through a business platform (LinkedIn) back in April 2014. What began as a professional connection soon grew into a friendship, and before long, into a relationship. Deep down, we both knew we were meant for each other.

What really brought us together was our shared background — we had both worked in the stonemasonry industry and shared a love for the beauty of working with natural stone. We realised that helping our customers choose the perfect stone for their homes played an important role in their happiness.

With that same desire to bring joy to others, and a long-standing love for clothing and fashion, we decided to combine our efforts in a new way — by creating an online space where we could reach and inspire more people through beautiful fashion.

Shortly after The Zebra Effect was launched, Justin proposed.

 

Mission

To sell beautiful women’s jeans, leisurewear and streetwear online all year round.

By specialising in black and white female apparel, we aim for our garment selection to see our customers through the years with its timeless and classic appeal. With designer and budget friendly clothing on range; we have something for every woman who wants to feel and look the part.

Vision - Why The Zebra Effect?

When asking friends what they loved to wear in terms of their clothing, it was inevitably black and white, which validated what we were witnessing around us. From accessories to make-up cases, to clothing outfits; you name it, it was The Zebra Effect.

• Powerful, strong, bold, chic, elegant, seductive, classic, sophisticated, formal, intriguing and mysterious.
• Black clothing is timeless and provides great value for money, striving to retain its worth throughout the years. It is less likely to hang all year round in your wardrobe with its sale tag pinned on!
• Black clothing creates a slimming effect.
• Black is an easy option to choose when dressing for the day. A staple clothing in the wardrobe suitable for mix and matching - accessorising with jewellery and scarves to create a new look and avoid repeat outfit offences.
• Black comes in the form of a trusty LBD - 'Little Black Dress'.

 

 White -• Represents perfection, goodness, vibrancy, light, purity, cleanliness and positiveness.
• White is classic and can be worn through the years by 'mix and matching' colours and layers of clothing - it is functional and stylish.
